Description

Suga®Nate 160NC

A liquid anionic surfactant of natural origin, designed for formulating mild, foaming cleansers without traditional sulphates. Its INCI is Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate, an anionic derivative of C10-C16 alkyl polyglucosides.

It is obtained from renewable and mineral raw materials: a glucoside component derived from sugars, a plant-derived fatty chain and sodium salts. The result is a bio-based, water-soluble surfactant that is particularly useful for rinse-off formulas where good foam and a high level of mildness are sought.

Why it is special

  • Mild anionic surfactant of natural origin.
  • Active matter/solids: 39% - 41%.
  • pH: 6,0 - 8,0 in a 10% solution.
  • Product supplied without preservatives.
  • Water-soluble and easy to incorporate into aqueous systems.
  • Compatible with amphoterics, non-ionics, amides and other common surfactant systems.
  • Free from ethoxylated compounds; does not introduce 1,4-dioxane from ethoxylation.
  • Very suitable for formulas without traditional sulphates.
  • Biodegradable according to available technical tests.

Mildness and irritation potential

In technical tests on the ingredient, Suga®Nate 160NC showed a very high level of mildness. In the HET-CAM eye irritation test, it received a score of 0, indicating no potential for eye irritation under the test conditions. A non-irritant classification was also reported in the EpiOcular model, with no visible reaction in a 48-hour occlusive skin test on volunteers.

These results relate to the ingredient tested under specific conditions. In actual cosmetics, final tolerance depends on the complete formula, use level, pH, fragrance, preservative, added active ingredients and intended use. Any formula must therefore be tested and validated before regular use or marketing.

Cosmetic applications

  • Mild shower gels for frequent use.
  • Shampoos without traditional sulphates.
  • Rinse-off facial cleansers.
  • Products for delicate or sensitive skin, subject to validation.
  • Children's gels and shampoos once the complete formula has been validated.
  • Mild bubble baths.
  • Liquid hand soaps.
  • Wipes or aqueous cleansing products, always with microbiological and tolerance validation.
  • Pet hygiene products, with adjustment of pH and compliance with applicable regulations.

How to formulate with Suga®Nate 160NC

It can be used as a primary surfactant or combined with coco betaine, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Decyl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside or other mild surfactants. Incorporate it into the aqueous phase or surfactant phase, using slow stirring to avoid excessive air and foam.

For body and hair formulas, it is usually advisable to adjust the final pH to the appropriate range for the intended use and chosen preservative. Viscosity may vary according to the surfactant system, electrolytes, gum, pH and active matter percentage.

Translated review. I have no words to describe this surfactant. I used it in a shampoo, and it stopped my itchy scalp. It could not have been gentler on my skin. Do not hesitate to use it if you have delicate skin
