Indicative gentle shower gel formula with panthenol and hydrolysed wheat protein.

Save to favourites

Formula objective. A moisturising shower gel with SugaNate and panthenol, designed to combine gentle cleansing with a more carefully developed comfort profile. The formula keeps SugaNate at the core of the surfactant system and uses humectant active ingredients to improve the feel after showering.

Why these ingredients were chosen.

  • SugaNate provides cleansing and foam as the main surfactant.
  • Panthenol helps improve the feeling of comfort and cosmetic care.
  • Glycerine supports humectancy and helps give a less dry feel.
  • The co-surfactants balance foam, rinsing and tolerance.
  • The preservative and final pH are basic controls in an aqueous gel.

Intended users. People looking for a gentle body gel with additional humectancy, especially useful in formulas for frequent showering.

Skill level. Easy level: requires good dispersion of the gelling agent, slow incorporation of surfactants and pH measurement.

Validation required. Validate pH, panthenol compatibility, stability, preservation, foam and skin tolerance.

Step by step

Prepare and weigh 1 Room temperature

Prepare and weigh

Disinfect the utensils and container. Weigh each ingredient in a clean container or in the same beaker, taring the scales between ingredients. Read the whole recipe before starting.

Avoid lumps in the gum 2 Room temperature

Avoid lumps in the gum

First mix the xanthan gum with the glycerine to form a uniform paste. If dry white spots remain, keep stirring before adding the water.

Add water, panthenol and protein 3 Room temperature

Add water, panthenol and protein

Add the water gradually and stir gently. Then incorporate the panthenol and hydrolysed wheat protein. Mix until you can no longer see separate areas.

Add the surfactants slowly 4 Room temperature

Add the surfactants slowly

Incorporate the SugaNate, Coco Betaine and Decyl Glucoside slowly. Always stir in the same direction without lifting the spatula too much, to avoid introducing air.

Preserve and adjust the pH 5 Room temperature

Preserve and adjust the pH

Add the preservative, mix and measure the pH. Adjust with diluted citric acid only if necessary. Wait a few seconds between each drop, as the pH takes a little time to stabilise.

Rest before deciding Final Room temperature

Rest before deciding

Do not judge the texture immediately after finishing. Leave to rest for 24 hours so that the foam subsides and the gum finishes hydrating. Then check the texture, smell, colour and separation.

Preservation, shelf life and validation

  • Indicative rinse-off formula.
  • Adjust the pH at the end.
  • Validate stability and preservation before preparing large batches.
