Description

Leucidal® Liquid is a natural preservative obtained by fermenting radish root (Raphanus sativus) with bacteria of the genus Leuconostoc. During fermentation, natural antimicrobial peptides are produced that can inhibit bacteria and yeasts, acting as an alternative to synthetic preservatives in natural cosmetics.

It is incorporated into the water phase and works optimally in formulas with a slightly acidic pH. Its gentle profile makes it suitable for face, body and hair cosmetics and for leave-on and rinse-off products. The fermentation peptides also help improve hydration and skin feel, supporting barrier function.

It is ideal for natural, vegan formulations eligible for certification, particularly emulsions, toners, gels and water-based serums.

Leucidal® Liquid is fully water-soluble. The recommended pH range is 4,0 to 6,5, although it acts across pH ranges from 3 to 8. It loses efficacy in alkaline media).

For the incorporation temperature, it is always preferable to stay below 40 ºC (maximum 45ºC) to preserve its biological activity.

It is compatible with most surfactants and O/W emulsions, but formulas very rich in electrolytes or with a high content of fresh plant extracts may require support from an organic acid or co-preservative.

Additional properties: besides its antimicrobial function, it provides peptides that help improve hydration and skin feel.

Storage: keep at room temperature. Do not freeze. It may become cloudy or form sediment when cold; if this happens, gently heat to 40ºC - 45ºC and homogenise.

Recommended use: normally used at between 2% and 4%, suitable for natural, vegan formulations eligible for certification.
