Description

Viscolid RSPO/MB is an oil-gelling and structuring agent specifically designed to thicken and stabilise oil phases without traditional waxes, allowing the creation of transparent gels, wax-free balms, lipid serums and highly stable anhydrous textures.

It is used to transform liquid oils into a stable semisolid structure without altering the colour or smell of the base oil, allowing modern, lightweight and transparent textures to be achieved.

It is used with vegetable oils, esters, sensory oils (such as fractionated coconut oil) or ecological silicones (derived from coconut).

It requires no neutralisation and does not need to be combined with additional waxes (although these can be added).

It is of 100% plant origin, obtained through controlled hydrogenation and esterification of vegetable oils.

Properties / Uses of Viscolid

Gels oils without the need for waxes.
Allows transparent, stable oil gels to be created.
Excellent thermal stability: does not separate easily.
Improves spreadability and glide over the skin.
Provides a non-sticky, soft and silky feel.
Allows lighter balms to be created than those based on waxes.
Facilitates minimalist anhydrous formulations.
Compatible with vitamin E, essential oils and fragrances.
Increases viscosity without clouding the oil's colour.
Does not interfere with the absorption of oil-soluble active ingredients.

Recommended use

3% - 5%: thicker structured oils, like a fluid oil serum.
5% - 8%: semifluid oil gel.
8% - 12%: firm oil gel.
12% - 20%: solid wax-free balm.

The optimum concentration depends on the base oil: light oils need slightly more to gel, while dense oils need slightly less.

How to use Viscolid

Place the oil or oil blend in a heat-resistant beaker.
Add Dermofeel Viscolid SG.
Heat to 75 - 85°C until the product has completely melted.
Stir until completely homogeneous.
Remove from the heat.
Continue mixing until the temperature drops and it gels.
At this point, add vitamin E, essential oils and/or heat-sensitive active ingredients.
Cool without excessive stirring to maintain transparency.
