Description:

Kem Nat is a broad-spectrum preservative system approved by COSMOS for natural and organic cosmetics, effective across a wide pH range.

It is a synergistic combination of benzyl alcohol and glyceryl monoesters that enhance preservative action and provide emollience.
It addresses the difficulty of preserving natural formulations at pH 7 or above, being fully active in neutral and slightly alkaline conditions where organic acids are ineffective.

Antimicrobial activity:

Kem Nat is a balanced combination of benzyl alcohol (a widely recognised cosmetic preservative) and highly pure glyceryl caprylate and glyceryl undecylenate monoesters. These esters demonstrate antibacterial and antifungal activity, enhancing benzyl alcohol's preservative action and providing broad-spectrum effectiveness against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, as well as yeasts and moulds.

KEM NAT is also effective against Propionibacterium acnes.

Properties and stability:

Kem Nat is very soluble in alcohol, glycerine, glycols and polar oils, and slightly soluble in water. It remains stable against discolouration and at low storage temperatures.
It can tolerate manufacturing temperatures of up to 80°C.
Kem Nat's activity is not sensitive to pH, and it can be used in alkaline conditions, preferably within a pH range of 4-8.

It is approved worldwide without restrictions for rinse-off and leave-on cosmetics.

• Raw materials: surfactants, plant extracts.

Use level:

Kem Nat can be used at concentrations of 1 - 2 %.
