Description

Zedoary or Blue Turmeric Essential Oil (named for its characteristic colour when the root is cut) belongs to the same family as Ginger and turmeric. It is considered a lesser-known type of turmeric with a distinctive aromatic profile. The aroma is earthy, spicy and woody, with fresh, slightly camphoraceous notes, retaining its identity reminiscent of traditional turmeric (curcuma longa), with a subtle floral base.
Its Curzerenone content is close to 15% (one publication mistakenly stated "close to 50%"), so it could be used in products to relieve muscle and joint discomfort. Its composition also includes 1,8 Cineole at close to 40%, which enhances its main properties.

Please note that it can be irritating and is not recommended during pregnancy (because of its potential stimulating effect).

Seeds and rhizomes of wild plants from high mountain areas are steam-distilled by hand. The result is an essential oil of exceptional quality.

Appearance: Clear liquid, pale yellow to yellow.

Solubility: Soluble in oil, insoluble in water.

Precautions

Do not use this essential oil during pregnancy or on children under 12 years of age. Cinnamon essential oil is strongly dermocaustic and must never be used undiluted on the skin or mucous membranes. The maximum recommended concentration in preparations must not exceed 10 %.
