Description

Like other citrus trees, orange reached Europe from Asia. It was introduced to Spain by the Arabs in the eleventh century, where it was planted both for ornamental purposes and for its exquisite, fragrant blossoms.
Citrus blossoms are known in Spanish as azahar, a word of Arabic origin meaning white flower.

The therapeutic properties of these trees have long been known. They form part of the natural pharmacopoeia of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda.
For the Chinese, the fruit attracted good luck and symbolised prosperity and fertility.
Oranges were once very valuable, even luxurious gifts. Not so long ago in Spain, giving an orange as a Three Kings Day present was a real luxury.

Sweet orange essential oil is particularly indicated for calming and relaxing even young children. It is also used to flavour desserts and drinks.

Appearance: Clear liquid, pale yellow to slightly orange-yellow.

Solubility: Soluble in alcohol and oil, insoluble in water

Robert Tisserand – Essential Oil Safety) It may be used during pregnancy and on children, always observing the appropriate usage rates. Do not use undiluted on the skin.
