Description

Larch grows naturally in central Europe. It is found in the Alps at altitudes between 1000 and 2000 metres. Larch is the only conifer that loses its needles in autumn.
It is a tree that tolerates intense cold very well. Its resin is extracted to obtain turpentine.
Its highly resistant, virtually rot-proof wood is used in construction and carpentry. In some regions, the wood is used to make barrels for storing wine.

Symbolically, larch is associated with new beginnings, as well as spontaneity and courage.
Its wood has been used in spring rituals and as pendants to protect children from the evil eye.
Turpentine was used therapeutically as a disinfectant.
Larch needles have been used in decoctions to treat skin diseases.

The essential oil is obtained from pruned branches.
Its aroma is gentle, pleasant and comforting. It evokes wide-open spaces and fresh mountain air.
