Formula objective. A gentle cleansing spray for washable surfaces with Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside as the main ingredient. The formula is intended to evaluate its ability as a non-ionic surfactant and solubiliser in light household cleaning.

Why these ingredients were chosen.

Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside provides the main cleaning and light-dirt solubilising function.
A small amount of Decyl Glucoside supports foam and dirt removal without becoming the dominant surfactant.
Water acts as the vehicle for spray application.
The preservative protects the aqueous formula during storage.
pH adjustment allows compatibility to be fine-tuned, always testing each surface first.

Intended users. Household use on washable, non-delicate surfaces. It must not be used as a disinfectant, biocide or substitute for products specifically intended for natural stone, untreated wood or screens.

Skill level. Easy level: preparation is simple, but correct labelling, testing on a small area first and avoiding disinfection claims are required.

Validation required. Validate pH, stability, smell, spray compatibility, absence of surface marks and actual cleaning performance.

Step by step

1 Room temperature

Prepare the equipment

Clean the beaker, spatula and spray container. This formula is liquid and used as a spray, so the container must close securely and spray evenly.

2 Room temperature

Weigh the water for the formula

Add the distilled water to the main beaker and work at room temperature. There is no need to heat this formula.

Although this may seem a very simple step, weigh the water precisely: in a cleaning spray, small changes can alter the surfactant concentration, preservative and spraying behaviour.

If preparing a larger quantity, do not fill the beaker to the top. Leave enough space to stir afterwards without splashing or generating unnecessary foam.

3 Room temperature

Add Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside

Add Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside little by little and stir slowly until evenly distributed. In this recipe, it is the main ingredient for cleaning and solubilisation.

4 Room temperature

Complete with Decyl Glucoside

Add a small amount of Decyl Glucoside. Its role is to support cleaning, not to replace Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside. Mix without whisking to avoid generating unnecessary foam.

5 Room temperature

Preserve and adjust the pH

Add Geogard 221 / Cosgard and mix. Measure the pH and adjust with diluted citric acid if necessary. Do this drop by drop and measure again before adding more.

Final Room temperature

Allow to rest and test on a small scale

Leave to rest for 24 hours. If it is uniform, package it and test on a small area of the surface first. Do not use it as a disinfectant or on delicate surfaces without validation.

Preservation, shelf life and validation

Indicative household cleaning formula, not a cosmetic or disinfectant.
Do not spray near eyes, food, children or pets.
Test on an inconspicuous area of the surface first.
