Description
The mandarin tree originates from China. It is thought to have reached Europe in the XIX century. As with most citrus fruits, its essence is usually extracted from the fruit peel, but essential oil is also extracted from its leaves.Mandarin petitgrain essential oil is probably one of the most powerful hypnotics available in aromatherapy. It is particularly effective for insomnia. It is also very useful for relieving muscle contractures and any pain of spasmodic origin.
Its aroma is very distinctive. Used in the right proportion, it adds a beautiful floral touch reminiscent of nectar-rich flowers. It owes its distinctive aroma to its main molecule, methyl anthranilate, which is also found in very small proportions in mandarin essence and jasmine absolute.
Mandarin petitgrain essential oil is a great ally for the nervous system, useful in situations of stress or generalised anxiety.
