Description

Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, particularly Tasmania. There are many species, around 600, and the vast majority produce valuable and varied essences.
In the past, eucalyptus trees were planted extensively to dry out marshy areas where insects transmitting diseases such as malaria proliferated. They are found in virtually every part of the world.
In Australia, eucalyptus leaves have traditionally been used to repel insects, reduce fever or treat wounds.

Blue eucalyptus essential oil differs from other essential oils extracted from eucalyptus trees because of its distinctive biochemistry. Most essential oils available tend to be more specifically suited to the respiratory system. Blue eucalyptus essential oil, by contrast, is a major anti-inflammatory with a wide range of applications.
Its aroma is very similar to citronella, as they share aromatic molecules (citronellal, citronellol). It is refreshing and evokes cleanliness.
Along with citronella, it is one of the essential oils used to produce Citriodol®, the most effective natural molecule for repelling mosquitoes.
