Description

Anise myrtle is a tree native to Australia. It is known as Ringwood or Anised Tree. It is a rarity from the rainforests of New South Wales. It has a very aromatic leaf with a pure anise scent. Brought out of the rainforest, it has recently begun to be cultivated. The leaf is used as a spice. Essential oil production is very limited.
The tree has a very dense crown and can reach 45 metres in height. Its leaves are between 6 and 12 cm long, with prominently wavy margins and a rich anise aroma when crushed. The flowers are whitish and sweetly scented.

The biochemical profile of this essential oil is very similar to that of star anise.

Appearance: Clear liquid, colourless to light yellow

Solubility: Soluble in alcohol and oil. Insoluble in water

Precautions

Do not use during pregnancy. Do not use on children under 6 years of age. People who have or have had hormone-dependent cancer should avoid using this essential oil. People taking anticoagulants should use this essential oil only topically and occasionally.
