The exceptional quality of this caraway lies in the exclusive use of whole Carum carvi seeds, grown at moderate altitudes and naturally sun-dried without speeding up the process. Low-pressure steam distillation preserves its characteristic biochemical profile intact, dominated by carvone and limonene, the molecules responsible for its distinctive aromatic identity and traditional uses.
Its aroma is dry, aniseed-like and slightly minty, with a spicy base that clearly distinguishes it from oils such as cumin (Cuminum cyminum) and fennel (Foeniculum vulgare). While cumin tends towards warmer, earthier notes and fennel towards herbal sweetness, caraway offers a sharper, more pungent and refreshing profile.
This is an essential oil with a strong identity that calls for restraint. A poorly measured drop can dominate a formula, but in balance it adds structure, verticality and a unique spicy character to massage blends, aromatic synergies and carefully considered cosmetic applications.
