Description

Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate powder

A mild anionic surfactant in powder form, derived from vegetable raw materials. It is obtained from L-glutamic acid, an amino acid naturally present in skin and hair, and fatty acids of natural origin.

This ingredient is particularly useful in cleansing formulas where foaming, mildness and good skin tolerance are desired. It can be used in facial cleansers, shower gels, shampoos, shaving preparations, rinse-off make-up removers, and solid or powder formats that are hydrated at the time of use.

Behaviour according to pH

According to the reviewed technical data sheet, the ingredient's INCI is Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate. When formulated at a pH below 7,5, the INCI specified in the technical data sheet becomes Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. Therefore, in formulas adjusted to an acidic or slightly acidic pH, the final pH should be measured, recorded and validated before finalising the recipe documentation.

Its powder format allows it to be used in both dry recipes activated with water and solid shampoos or liquid gels prepared by dissolving it first. In all cases, avoid inhaling the powder during weighing and mixing.

A mild anionic surfactant of vegetable origin.
Minimum solids content: 95% according to the technical data sheet.
Readily soluble in water.
Compatible with anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants.
Indicative pH: 11 in a 2% aqueous solution.
Produces abundant foam and provides conditioning properties.
No preservative added according to the technical data sheet.
Store at room temperature, protected from frost, direct sunlight and prolonged overheating above 40 ºC.

Formulation recommendation

The reviewed technical data sheet does not specify a fixed maximum dosage. Adjust the dosage to the type of formula and always validate pH, foam, viscosity, stability, preservation and tolerance. For dry formulas, hydrate only the amount to be used; for prepared aqueous formulas, use an appropriate preservative system and carry out microbiological validation.
