Description

Carrot essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried seeds of the Daucus carota variety.
It is extracted from either cultivated carrot seeds or wild carrot seeds. The two produce essential oils with different compositions, and although their different chemotypes are rarely mentioned, it is important to take them into account.
The main chemotypes identified are: Carotol, β Bisabolene and geranyl acetate (Wild carrot).
Essential oil from cultivated carrot usually contains the highest percentage of carotol, whereas wild carrot oil may contain only traces of this molecule.

Appearance: Clear liquid, amber to yellow-orange

Solubility: Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oil

Precautions

Not for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under six years of age.

Do not apply directly to the skin. Dilute in a carrier oil or follow the recommended usage rate for creams and other cosmetics. This rate should be 1% or 2% at most.
