Description
Holy basil is a plant native to India and one of the most highly valued and recommended medicinal plants in Ayurveda.
Called “Tulsi”, it is used in rituals worshipping the deities Vishnu, Khrisna and Rama.
It is also associated with Vrinda, goddess of fertility and abundance. Tulsi symbolises femininity and motherhood. A deity in plant form, even the soil around it is sacred.
It is a plant greatly respected for its many medicinal properties. Eating it with meat is considered sacrilege, and it is usually reserved for medicinal uses and rituals.
It is said that daily consumption of this plant would prevent disease and improve physical condition, wellbeing and longevity. Above all, it would help people cope with the psychological and physical pressures of everyday life.
Indeed, recent scientific studies demonstrate the plant’s strong therapeutic power, largely due to the aromatic molecules found concentrated in its essential oil.
The aroma of Tulsi essential oil is exquisite, elegant and seductive. Its spicy, woody notes are stimulating yet comforting. It has great strength and character. We can imagine this deity escaping from the bottle to surround us in a protective cloak, an aromatic shield capable of dissolving any negativity around us or within us.
Holy basil essential oil is particularly indicated during times of stress. It is considered an adaptogen, meaning that it stimulates the body’s own adaptive abilities so that it responds better to situations requiring greater effort or that may overwhelm us.
