Description
The place of origin of tarragon is unknown. Various regions of the world have been proposed, although none appears to be accepted. It has been found growing wild in western North America, specifically in Alaska, so this may be the original home of this aromatic plant. Mainly valued as a seasoning for centuries, tarragon was not widely used for its medicinal properties before the XVII century. Some sources indicate that it was used in Antiquity to drive demons out of houses and protect them from the evil eye. Its Latin name, dracunculus, means little dragon and referred to its use for snake bites.
It reached Spain through the Arabs, who called it “tharkoum”
The extracted essential oil has a biochemical profile similar to that of exotic basil of the methyl-chavicol chemotype, so they share numerous properties.
Its aroma is somewhat sweet and distinctly aniseed-like.
Appearance: Clear liquid, colourless to greenish yellow
Solubility: Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils

I like the intensity of the scent and everything it offers me. Mixed with almond oil, it works very well for my varicose veins and tired legs with daily massages.
