Description
Ho Wood is grown on extensive plantations in areas of China and Japan, with annual production running into tens of tonnes. It is commonly found as "Linalool Isolate", as the % of this aromatic molecule in its composition exceeds 96%. This opens the door to adulteration with synthetic Linalool and other fairly inexpensive fragrance substances (as also happens with Wintergreen, Birch and Palmarosa, among many others). With this unusual oil from Madagascar, where it is traditionally steam-distilled, you can discover the natural scent of pure, complete, natural, unfractionated Ho Wood.
General information
What is known as "Ho Wood" is a camphor tree belonging to the Lauraceae family, which grows naturally in the subtropical regions of Asia. Its adaptation to the habitat of each region is characterised by considerable variation in the aromatic essence it produces.
At least 5 chemotypes are known: camphor, linalool, nerolidol, safrole and 1,8-cineole (or eucalyptol).
This tree is common in Taiwan and Japan. In these regions, camphor predominates in the composition of the essential oil.
The camphor tree also grows naturally in China, where it is known as Ho Wood and its essential oil contains an extremely high percentage of linalool and no camphor.
Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy or on children under 6 years of age unless under professional supervision.
