Opoponax is a natural gum resin exuded by a small tree called Commiphora erythraea, which grows in Africa (Egypt, Somalia and Ethiopia, among other countries). The tree trunks are tapped so that they gradually exude the gum resin over several weeks.Opoponax is mainly used in perfumery.
