Description
Native to southern Europe and central and southern Asia, dill is a seasoning plant similar to fennel. It grows wild and has been valued for its medicinal properties since ancient times. In Egypt, it was used to relieve digestive disorders and pain. In Greece, its leaves were placed over the eyes to help people fall asleep more quickly. In India, it forms part of the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia.As a spice, it is mainly used to season fish.
USES
Inhalation
Dill essential oil is not usually used by inhalation.
Topical use
(Properly diluted with a vegetable oil).
This essential oil is an excellent ally of the digestive system. It prevents flatulence, supports liver function and cares for the intestine, especially in cases of colitis.
To benefit from its properties, use it to massage the abdominal area. Dilute 2 drops of essential oil with 6 drops of hazelnut oil or any other vegetable oil and massage the abdominal area in circular movements as needed.
Oral use could be considered under the supervision of a healthcare professional with expertise in essential oils.
Applications in olfactology (psychological and emotional wellbeing)
Dill essential oil is not usually used in olfactology.
Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy. Do not use in children under 6 years of age. Do not use undiluted on the skin.
Do not apply directly to the skin. Dilute in a carrier oil or follow the recommended usage rate for creams and other cosmetics. This rate should be 1% or 2% at most.
