Organic Coriander Essential Oil - Leaves

Description

Coriander is a very popular spice in many regions of the world and has been used for several thousand years. The Egyptians were, and remain, major consumers. Large quantities of seeds were found in pharaohs' tombs, so they probably attributed very special virtues to it.

It is one of the spices mentioned in the Bible. In ancient Greece and Rome, this herb of the Apiaceae family was also highly valued, particularly for culinary purposes.
It is also widely used in Eastern and Asian cooking.

The exact origin of this plant is unknown, although it probably comes from the eastern Mediterranean region. It seems to have been cultivated for so many centuries that it is not found growing wild unless it has “escaped” from cultivation.
It is mentioned in the “Tales of the Thousand and One Nights”, and in the East it was attributed aphrodisiac properties.

In China, it was believed to have the power to grant immortality and was used for its digestive properties.

In the Caribbean, people used to say that nobody could lie after receiving a massage with an oil prepared with coriander; it was called the oil of truth.

In Morocco, it is still used today to protect against evil spirits.

Two essential oils are extracted from coriander: one from the leaf and one from the fruit. Their compositions and aromas are very different. Coriander leaf essential oil contains molecules not usually found in such quantities in other essential oils: trans 2 decenal and decanal, for example, belong to the aldehyde family and are largely responsible for its distinctive scent.

The aroma of the leaf essential oil is that of the plant as we use it fresh. It is a very distinctive aroma that tends either to delight people or, conversely, provoke outright rejection. According to some interesting scientific studies, the reason why some people love its smell and others loathe it lies in our genetics! It appears that some of us express the olfactory receptor that recognises aldehydes less strongly and are less sensitive to them than other people.
Those who can enjoy its aroma describe it as original, oriental, fresh and intense.

It can inspire euphoria and, in any case, encourages a certain enthusiasm.

Solubility: Soluble in Alcohol and Oil.
