Description

Artemisia herba-alba, known as white wormwood, is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to North Africa and parts of Asia. The plant is known for its medicinal properties.
It is a woody shrub that can grow to 1 to 2 metres in height. Its small, grey or silvery leaves are covered in fine hairs, giving it the whitish appearance behind its common name. Like other artemisias, it has tiny, clustered, pale yellow flowers.

Botanical name: Artemisia herba-alba - Family: Asteraceae - Genus: Artemisia

A low-growing, strongly scented shrub, with branches often arching downwards. Mature leaves are small and very short (2-8 mm), 1-2 pinnatisect. The involucral bracts are arranged at different levels. Flower heads are in a panicle, upright, elongated and narrow (1-3 mm), with few yellowish flowers (3-6). The involucre is 1,5-2,5 mm in diameter. The receptacle is hairless.
