Description
Sodium Alginate is the sodium salt form of alginic acid and the gum extracted mainly from the cell walls of brown algae, with chelating activity.
It is commonly used by chefs in molecular gastronomy for spherification, where it forms a gel in the presence of calcium ions. It is known as the food additive E401.
In cosmetics, Sodium Alginate is used as a thickener, gelling agent or emulsifier, or to improve cream textures.
Dosage:
0,25% to 1%, depending on the cosmetic you want to make.
