Granular Urea

Description

A component our body produces naturally, involved in various processes such as regulating fluid retention, maintaining appropriate blood pressure and eliminating excess toxins.

It forms part of bodily waste such as sweat, urine and faeces, although it is odourless and non-toxic.

The urea used in cosmetic products is not of animal origin: it is produced synthetically in a laboratory at the appropriate concentration for its intended use.

Our Urea is supplied in granular form and is white and odourless.

Very soluble in water, soluble in 96% ethanol and practically insoluble in methylene chloride.

Properties and Uses of Urea

Improves the skin barrier, preventing the water that should nourish the dermis from escaping, maintaining appropriate hydration levels and stimulating the synthesis of structural proteins.

It can act on skin cells to promote shedding.

Improves skin flexibility by penetrating deeper layers and stimulating collagen synthesis in the dermis.

Activates the skin's immune system by stimulating the production of antimicrobial peptides.

Its excellent moisturising and exfoliating properties promote much smoother, softer, healthier and more radiant skin.

It can be used to produce creams, ointments, lotions, serums and shampoos...

Recommended Dosage

Topical use, depending on the required action;

• At 0,5 – 1 %: keratoplastic action, useful for cleansing and healing wounds and ulcers.
• At 5 -10%: moisturising, useful for dry skin or occasional dehydration.
• At 20 % %: peeling effect on difficult areas such as heels, elbows and knees...
• At 10 -25%: useful for soothing itching and providing keratoplastic action.
• At 10 – 40 % %: keratolytic action, useful for psoriasis, ichthyosis, eczema, dermatomycoses, hyperkeratosis and more.
• At 30-40%: increases the exfoliating effect; used, for example, to remove hard skin on the feet.

Side Effects

• Topical application may irritate sensitive skin.
• Prolonged treatment may cause sensitisation.

Precautions

• Store in tightly closed containers.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Incompatible with nitric acid, nitrates, formaldehyde and alkalis.
