Grapefruit belongs to the citrus family and its origin is unknown. It is believed that the Arabs introduced it to Europe in the 18th century.Grapefruit was introduced to Florida from the Antilles. Florida is now the world’s largest producer. It is also widely grown in China and South America.
There are varieties with yellow skin and others with pink skin.
White grapefruit is the large variety with yellow skin. Its flesh is very juicy and slightly sweet.
The essence is extracted from the peel by cold pressing.
It is highly valued for diffusion because of its antiseptic properties and pleasant aroma.
