Description

Makrut lime is a citrus fruit closely related to lime, native to Southeast Asia and grown in various parts of the world for its distinctive fruit and culinary uses. The leaves are widely used in Southeast Asian cooking, particularly Thai, Malay and Indonesian dishes. They are used to flavour soups, curries, stews and other dishes, as their aroma is essential to the food’s flavour and fragrance.
The fruit of Citrus hystrix is small and rough, with a thick, wrinkled green peel. The most distinctive feature of this plant is its leaves, which have a unique shape with two joined lobes and an intense citrus aroma. The essential oil is extracted from the leaves.
