Description

Fenugreek is a leguminous plant native to temperate regions of the eastern Mediterranean and Asia. Its seeds have been valued for centuries for their intense, warm, spicy and slightly sweet aroma, with nuances reminiscent of maple syrup and the toasted notes of certain natural pyrazines.

To obtain its absolute, the ripe seeds undergo hexane extraction to produce the "concrete", which is then purified by washing with ethanol. This method preserves fenugreek’s richest and most characteristic aromatic molecules, producing a highly concentrated golden-brown to dark brown paste with remarkable fixative power.

Fenugreek has a long history of use in both perfumery and cosmetics. Traditionally, it has been used in ointments and oriental perfumes for its ability to bring warmth and depth to compositions. Its sweet, spicy notes were combined with balsams and resins to create sensual, enveloping accords.

In modern perfumery, fenugreek absolute is used in trace amounts to enrich gourmand, amber, balsamic or spicy accords. Its scent is powerful and very long-lasting, and it acts as a natural fixative in complex blends.

In natural cosmetics, its extract is valued for its 100 % plant-based botanical profile, used mainly in natural perfumes, balms, body creams and artisan soaps, providing a warm, resinous base without the need for synthetics.

Thanks to its high concentration, a small amount is enough to give a formula character.
