Natural Birch Bark

Description

Black birch is a medium to large tree that can reach heights of up to 25 metres. It has dark, fissured bark.
It is found mainly in eastern North America, from south-eastern Canada to the north-eastern United States.
It prefers moist, acidic soils and is often found in marshy areas, along streams and in damp forests.
The black birch we offer comes from Bulgaria.

Black birch bark has anti-inflammatory properties and has been used in traditional medicine to treat inflammatory conditions. Infusions or decoctions of the bark have traditionally been used as a natural pain reliever to ease aches and discomfort.
In traditional medicine, it has been used to relieve respiratory problems such as colds and coughs.
It is well known as a diuretic and general cleanser for the body. It helps eliminate toxic agents (uric acid and urea) and is recommended for eliminating kidney stones.

It is useful for slowing hair loss. For this purpose, a decoction is prepared and applied as a lotion to the scalp.

An essential oil with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties is extracted from the bark.
