Description

Chiuri butter, originating in Nepal, is a natural product extracted from the seeds of Diploknema butyracea (also known as the Chiuri or Chyuri tree), which grows in the country's mountainous regions. This tree is highly valued by local communities, not only for its economic value but also for its traditional applications in medicine and food.

Chiuri butter acts mainly by forming a barrier on the surface of the skin and hair, preventing moisture loss and protecting against external aggressors. Its antioxidant components neutralise free radicals, reducing cell damage and inflammation. The fatty acids, meanwhile, improve the skin's barrier function and provide flexibility and softness to both skin and hair. It is highly valued in natural cosmetics for its emollient, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its applications include skincare, but particularly haircare.

Skincare:

Deep hydration:
The high concentration of fatty acids such as oleic and stearic acid makes this butter excellent for moisturising dry, cracked skin. It absorbs well and leaves the skin soft without a heavy, greasy feel.

Protection and repair:
The antioxidants in the butter help protect the skin against environmental damage, such as pollution and UV radiation, and promote cell regeneration.

Sensitive skin care:
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is ideal for people with sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema or dermatitis, reducing redness. It is rich in flavonoids such as quercetin and other polyphenols, which act as powerful antioxidants to protect the skin.

Benefits of Chiuri Butter for Damaged Hair

Deep Hydration:
Chiuri butter is rich in essential fatty acids, such as oleic acid and stearic acid, which help deeply moisturise damaged hair. These fatty acids penetrate the hair fibre, helping restore lost moisture and improving the hair's softness and flexibility. In addition, the natural waxes in this butter are key to providing shine and a silky feel.

Repair and Protection:
The antioxidants and vitamins in Chiuri butter, such as vitamin E, help repair damaged hair by neutralising free radicals that cause oxidative stress. It also contains Vitamin A and some B-complex vitamins (such as B1, B2 and B3). This is crucial for protecting the hair from future damage, particularly environmental factors such as UV radiation and pollution.

Strengthening:
The fatty acids also help strengthen the hair by nourishing it and improving its internal structure, reducing breakage and split ends. Stronger hair is less prone to damage and therefore looks healthier.

How to use it on hair:

Chiuri butter nourishes dry, damaged hair, helping restore its shine and softness. It can be used as a deep treatment before washing or as a leave-in to seal in moisture. It strengthens the hair, reducing breakage and split ends, and adds volume.

Taxonomy

Botanical name: Diploknema Butyracea - Family: Sapotaceae - Genus: Diploknema

The Chiuri tree (Diploknema butyracea), a member of the Sapotaceae family, is an evergreen tree growing in the sub-Himalayan regions of Nepal at altitudes between 300 and 1500 metres above sea level. It can reach heights of 10 to 20 metres and has a sturdy trunk with rough, greyish-brown bark.

Its leaves are large, elongated and dark green, arranged alternately along the branches.

The small white or cream flowers grow in clusters. The fruits are oval and contain sweet pulp surrounding one or more large seeds, from which Chiuri butter is extracted.

The tree is highly adaptable to different soil types and climatic conditions, and plays an important role in the local ecology and economy.

Translated review. Although a little hard to handle cold, its effect on the skin makes it worthwhile. You need to warm it between your fingers a little before applying.

Hidratante y nutritiva

Aunque en frío es un poquito difícil de manejar, merece la pena por su efecto en la piel. Hay que calentarla un poco entre los dedos, antes de aplicarla.
