Description

Plant Keratin is a valuable ingredient in natural cosmetics, particularly in haircare products. Although it is not keratin in the strict sense (which is a protein produced by animals), Plant Keratin is a compound with a similar composition that can provide comparable benefits.

The formula we present includes hydrolysed corn, wheat and soya proteins. These proteins are broken down into smaller particles so they can penetrate the hair shaft, offering moisturising and repairing benefits. In addition, the Leuconostoc/Radish and Lactobacillus/Coconut ferments act as natural preservatives, offering additional protection and softness for the hair.

Plant Keratin has several uses in natural cosmetics:

  • Hair repair: Hydrolysed proteins can help repair damaged hair, providing strength and resilience.
  • Hydration: They help retain moisture, which can make the hair look and feel more hydrated.
  • Shine and softness: Applying Plant Keratin can improve the hair's shine and softness, giving it a healthier appearance.

In general, Plant Keratin is used in natural cosmetics mixed with other ingredients. It can be part of a conditioner, hair mask, serum or protective spray. It is normally incorporated into the aqueous phase of the formulation.

The use level of Plant Keratin in haircare formulations varies, but is generally between 2% and 5%. It is important to follow the supplier's instructions to ensure safe and effective application.

Application to the hair depends on the type of product. For example, for a conditioner, apply a generous amount to the hair after washing, leave it to work for a few minutes, then rinse. A mask can be left on for longer (such as 20-30 minutes) before rinsing. Serums and sprays are generally applied to clean, damp hair and do not need to be rinsed out.

It is important to remember that all products should be tested on a small area of skin before full use to check for any allergic reaction. It is also crucial to follow the directions for use and safety instructions provided by the product manufacturer.
