Description
Magnesium Stearate is a white powder practically insoluble in water and alcohol.
It is a compound of Magnesium with a solid mixture of organic fatty acids, consisting mainly of varying proportions of Magnesium Stearate and Magnesium Palmitate.
For topical and food use, it is an agent used as a drying powder to treat skin problems. Like rice starch, Magnesium Stearate is used as an excipient in cosmetic preparations, acting as a mechanical barrier against chemical irritants.
It is also used as a lubricant in tablet manufacturing and as an excipient for filling capsules.
