- PLANT:
Trigonella foenum-graecum, commonly known as fenugreek, is a herb native to the Middle East and south-west Asia, and is also found in North Africa and India.
- COMPOSITION:
Fenugreek contains pectin and fibre with mucilage, providing flavonoids, phenols and tannins. It also contains thiamine, retinol, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B5, vitamin C, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus and zinc. It also contains alkaloids, particularly trigonelline and lecithin.
- COSMETIC PROPERTIES AND USES:
It has softening and moisturising properties which, together with its mucilage, soothe sensitive and irritated skin. It is used in anti-ageing treatments thanks to its antioxidants, and in hair care to add shine and strength. This composition gives fenugreek antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, stimulating, tonic, expectorant, hepatoprotective, diaphoretic and laxative properties. It can be used in anti-wrinkle preparations (creams, masks, etc.), poultices for skin irritation, soaps, shampoos and bath gels.
