Native to this vast country, it is found mainly in northern regions, including parts of Queensland and the Northern Territory. It grows in habitats ranging from tropical forests to coastal and desert areas.
It is a shrub that can reach 7 metres in height.
Its wood is valued for its quality and is used to make furniture.
The essential oil extracted from the tree’s stumps and roots is particularly prized in perfumery.
