Description
This collector's item comes from Bursera Graveolens, whose tree must have been fallen for at least one year before its wonderful Essential Oil can truly be obtained. It was personally selected by Enrique Sanz Bascuñana and local Indigenous people in the Peruvian Rainforest in the Summer of 2021.
They searched for, found and selected the wood of this wonderful tree, Sacred to many cultures, then cut, loaded and transported it to a large distiller located in the Rainforest itself, owned by one of Peru's few producers of Palo Santo and Copal.
The result of that day's steam distillation is bottled and ready for you to enjoy in all its splendour, with the Quality Guarantee of something made with care and enthusiasm.
About Palo Santo Bursera Graveolens
This tree is native to the Peruvian Rainforest. This Palo Santo differs from the "Guaiaco Palo" of South Africa and other regions, and it is essential not to confuse them, as they have different properties and uses.
It is obtained from trees that have been dead for at least one year (preferably 3 years). During this period, the tree's wood develops unique characteristics that result in a powerful, aromatic essential oil. Unlike other oils, it cannot be obtained from living trees. The dead wood is distilled to extract the essential oil, which is then purified and bottled.
Important
It is important to distinguish between the Essential Oil from the fruit, obtained from living Bursera Graveolens trees (fairly common and inexpensive), and the scarce, highly sought-after oil obtained from fermented wood. They are often confused, and their scent, composition and properties differ greatly.
Common uses
In cosmetics, Palo Santo essential oil is valued for its antioxidant or anti-inflammatory properties, but its leading role is in Aromatherapy: its warm, woody aroma is ideal for relaxation and meditation products.
In Aromatherapy, Palo Santo essential oil is used for Meditation and rituals, to relieve stress (it is used in massage to ease tension and promote relaxation), or as a natural repellent (its aroma can help repel certain insects).
