Description

Mango Myrtle essential oil originates from Australia. It is grown using Biodynamic Agriculture, with trees raised from the seeds of wild trees in the same area. This avoids overexploiting the wild environment.

This Essential Oil is the crowning achievement of a small Australian producer who, after years of research, development and many trials, finally succeeded in capturing the full essence of this wonderful species.

The aroma is fresh and invigorating, similar to green mango (the scent of its crushed leaves). The oil provides an extremely calming, refreshing aroma that evokes a tropical summer atmosphere.

Mango Myrtle oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves and green branches of trees reaching over 4 metres tall. The entire process is manual and labour-intensive. As soon as the plant material is collected, it is crushed and distilled immediately to maintain the quality of the essential oil.

Historically, Indigenous people have regularly eaten the raw fruit of this tree (which has a very distinctive violet colour). They also use the leaves as perfume, rubbing them on the skin.

Early Europeans did not produce Essential Oil from this type of tree, but ate its fruit and used it to make jams, jellies and sweets.
