Description

Laricio Pine Essential Oil is obtained by steam-distilling the tree's needles, producing a pale yellow liquid with a fresh, resinous, woody aroma. Its scent recalls mountain forests and is valued in fragrances, home fragrance products and personal care formulations.

Traditionally, this oil has been used in various applications. In perfumery and aromatherapy, its balsamic fragrance is valued for its freshness and sense of openness. In household formulations, it is commonly included in cleaning products for both its characteristic aroma and its compatibility with natural formulations. It is also used in candles, diffusers and air fresheners, where its essence creates a feeling of pure, clean air.

Botanical Description of Laricio Pine

Laricio Pine (*Pinus nigra subsp. salzmannii*) is a large conifer that can reach between 20 and 40 metres in height. Its straight trunk and dark grey bark distinguish it from other pine species. Its stiff needle-like leaves grow in pairs and can reach 15 cm long. Its cones are conical, light brown and measure between 5 and 10 cm. A mountain species growing between 600 and 2.000 metres above sea level, it occurs in Spain and southern France on well-drained calcareous soils.

Historically, this tree has been used in various industries. Its wood is known for its strength and is used in carpentry and construction. Its resin has been used as a base for varnishes and adhesives. Its ability to adapt to difficult terrain has also made it widely useful in reforestation projects to restore eroded soils.
