Description

TEGO® Amid S 18 is a cationic surfactant at acidic pH values, with a wide range of applications.

It works effectively as an auxiliary emulsifier in skin creams and lotions and has proved very valuable as a conditioner in hair care products.

TEGO® Amid S 18’s ability to contribute to both skin and hair care preparations makes it an ideal addition to personal care products.

In skin care, it provides a gentle cushioning effect on the skin.

When used in hair conditioners, it contributes to combability, manageability and particularly volume/body.

When used in shampoo, it has a strong viscosity-increasing effect.

In personal care products, additional acid must be added to ensure neutralisation.

TEGO Amid S18 fulfils a key conditioning and antistatic role in various applications, particularly when replacing BTMS wax.

It has cationic properties, meaning it carries a positive charge. This allows it to neutralise the negative charge on the surface of the hair and skin, helping reduce frizz and improve hair appearance and manageability.

The most common way to use TEGO Amid S18 is to incorporate it into the conditioning phase of products such as hair conditioners, softeners, body creams and lotions.
Concentrations ranging from 0.1% to 5% of the total formula are recommended, depending on the specific requirements of the final product.

TEGO Amid S18 is compatible with other surfactants and can be mixed with them to obtain more complex formulations. Common examples of surfactants it can be mixed with include anionic surfactants, sulfosuccinates and alkyl sulphates, as well as non-ionic surfactants such as poloxamers and polysorbates.
