Description
Australian sandalwood grows in the driest parts of Australia, where four different sandalwood species coexist. This tree can reach around six metres in height and survive in a very hostile environment. Sandalwood has the particular characteristic of being a hemiparasite: to survive, it “parasitises” another plant from which it obtains nutrients, in this case acacia.
Australian sandalwood essential oil has been extracted for many centuries. Production began in 1875. Its success led to disastrous consequences, as has happened with white sandalwood, which is endangered.
Today, Australian sandalwood harvesting is limited and strictly controlled, carried out by family businesses with a strong environmental commitment, an annual felling quota and replanting overseen by the Australian government.
Our sandalwood comes directly from a family of Australian producers.
Stainless steel equipment is used alongside steam units, with controlled pressure and temperature. Given the experience and care involved in its production, we are confident that your experience with this Wild Sandalwood will be unique.
This essential oil is steam-distilled from sustainably sourced wood grown in Western Australia and is completely free from pesticides or other contaminants.
This Sandalwood essential oil has a high α Santalol content, more than 25%, giving it a much more intense aroma than ordinary sandalwood.
