Description
As raw material specialists, Mi Cosmética Casera offers several types of plant-based stearic acid at different concentrations to suit your particular needs.
The 50/50 and 60/40 versions are blends of stearic acid with other fatty acids, such as palmitic acid. These blends provide greater flexibility and a softer feel. They are used in formulations requiring moderate consistency and good spreadability, such as hand creams or body lotions. Their lower melting point makes them easier to incorporate into emulsions at lower temperatures.
If you are unsure whether this is the right version for you, consult the information tables below. When purity is not specified, this is the type commonly found on the market.
About Stearic Acid.
Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid that occurs naturally in fats, usually plant fats, and is obtained by hydrogenating vegetable oils. This waxy substance is widely used in cosmetics, food, plastics and rubber manufacturing. It is therefore important to know its quality and choose a grade specifically intended for cosmetic use.
Its high melting point adds extra hardness to soaps and candles, while also providing shine and lowering the pH.
Lip balms tend to melt in summer, so adding stearic acid provides extra hardness to prevent this.
Used in creams, it helps moisturise the skin, adding softness and acting as a protective barrier.
In glycerine soaps, it prevents droplets from forming as the soap sweats in humid climates.
