Description
Ulvanean® Recova
A marine active ingredient from Ulva lactuca rich in ulvans, amino acids and low molecular weight peptides, designed for cosmetic formulas focused on mature skin care and improving the appearance of skin firmness and elasticity.
Its cosmetic profile makes it particularly interesting for well-ageing products, helping improve skin appearance and providing comfort and softness. It also helps protect the skin from oxidative stress associated with external environmental factors.
In supplier tests on the ingredient, Ulvanean® Recova showed results related to skin firmness and mechanisms associated with visible skin ageing.

- Distilled or deionised water: 85,70 g
- Propanediol Ecocert: 3 g
- Ultra-Micronised Xanthan Gum: 0,35 g
- Niacinamide / Nicotinamide - Vitamin B3: 3 g
- Provitamin B5 / D-Panthenol W75%: 2 g
- Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid: 0,15 g
- Hydrolysed Marine Elastin: 2 g
- Ulvanean® Recova: 3 g
- Geogard 221 / Cosgard Preservative: 0,80 g
- pH Indicator Strips or pH meter: as required
Recommended Preservative
Geogard 221 / Cosgard at 0,8%. Alternatively, use Leucidal® SF MAX at 3%; in that case, reduce the water to 83,50 g to keep the total at 100 g.
Step by Step
Phase 1 - Preparation and Hygiene
- Disinfect utensils, the container, the work surface and your hands.
- Weigh all ingredients separately to avoid errors during preparation.
- Work cold or at room temperature, as Recova is a water-soluble active ingredient sensitive to mild aqueous formulations.
Phase 2 - Forming the Gel
- Mix the xanthan gum with the propanediol until you obtain an even, lump-free paste.
- Add the water gradually, stirring constantly.
- Sprinkle in the hyaluronic acid and allow it to hydrate until the gel looks uniform. If possible, leave for 30-60 minutes.
Phase 3 - Adding Active Ingredients
- Add the niacinamide and stir until completely dissolved.
- Add the panthenol and marine elastin, mixing gently to avoid introducing too much air.
- Add Ulvanean® Recova at the end of this phase and stir until evenly distributed.
Phase 4 - Preservation, pH and Packaging
- Add Geogard 221 / Cosgard and mix again.
- Measure the pH and adjust if necessary to approximately 5,3-5,6.
- Package in a clean bottle, preferably airless or with a dropper, and label with the preparation date.
How to Use
Apply a small amount to clean skin before your cream, once or twice daily. Avoid direct eye contact. Carry out a tolerance test before first use.
Formulation Notes
- Ulvanean® Recova is water-soluble and recommended at between 1% and 3%, depending on the application.
- The formula is calculated for 100 g. If you change the preservative or the percentage of an active ingredient, adjust the water to maintain the total.
- For a more fluid texture, reduce xanthan gum to 0,25%. For a firmer gel texture, it can be increased slightly while maintaining a pleasant skin feel.
