Description

This is a lichen that grows mainly on oak trunks, although varieties can also be found on other trees such as fir and pine. Native Americans called it “oak lungs” and used it to heal wounds because of its antiseptic properties.

This resinoid essential oil is highly prized in perfumery, where it is used as a fixative. It is also used in soap making.
