Description
Glyceryl Monostearate, also known as emulsifying wax number 3, is a non-ionic O/W Emulsifier with strong stabilising power in all kinds of preparations. Depending on the amount used, it gives consistency to a wide range of cosmetic products such as ointments, creams or lotions.
Glyceryl Monostearate can be found on the market in two forms:
- Type A) Self-emulsifying Wax (this is the one we stock), which needs no other co-emulsifiers.
- Type B) Co-emulsifier (does not emulsify on its own), thickening or dispersing agent in the food industry.
Among other names, it is known as Glycerol 40-50, Glycerol stearate, Cutina, Monostearin or glyceryl stearate.
Its non-ionic nature and excellent stability to light and heat allow it to be used with other non-ionic surfactants or any other class (anionic, cationic or amphoteric) to obtain perfectly stable o/w emulsions in the form of cosmetic creams or milks.
