Description

  • PLANT:

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) is a plant in the Asteraceae family, also called bastard saffron, false saffron, kusum phool or safflower, among other names.
Although the seeds are now mainly used to extract an edible oil (safflower oil), it was originally grown for its flowers as colourants, producing red and yellow pigments, and as a substitute for saffron in cooking.

  • COMPOSITION:

Kusum has high levels of vitamin E, alpha-tocopherol and phytosterols. Oleic acid can pass through the hair cuticle and/or penetrate the skin easily.

  • COSMETIC PROPERTIES AND USES:

The vegetable oil obtained from the flowers has traditionally been used to prevent heart problems, high cholesterol, obesity, etc. On the skin, it acts to eliminate blackheads and acne.
Its use in hair care has mainly been to treat hair loss, helping strengthen hair and stimulate growth by penetrating the hair and scalp and providing nutrients such as linoleic acid (an essential omega 6 fatty acid) and oleic acid (an omega 9 fatty acid and the main component of olive oil), as well as vitamin E, α-tocopherol and phytosterols. It therefore acts on dry hair and skin, and on dyed or chemically treated hair.

  • PRECAUTIONS

Precaution: people allergic to plants in the Asteraceae family (chrysanthemums, daisies, etc.).

Precautions

Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place.

Translated review. I have used it in solid shampoo, but ground it because the texture is somewhat awkward for washing hair. Still to be tried
