Description

  • PLANT:

White willow (Salix alba) is a tree found throughout the northern hemisphere in damp ground near rivers. It is widespread in Europe, Asia and North America, and is characterised by the salicin in its bark, also referred to as salicylic acid, the main component of aspirin, although willow bark is much more natural than the medicine. This plant, which can reach 18 metres in height, usually grows in damp places beside rivers or streams.

  • COMPOSITION:

Willow leaves, and especially its bark, are rich in phenolic glycosides, including salicin.

  • COSMETIC PROPERTIES AND USES:

Among its many properties, willow bark is used as a tonic and for its antirheumatic properties.
Also used as a pain remedy, it is particularly indicated for inflammatory rheumatic conditions through the application of an ointment made from it.
It can be used to combat inflammation of the mouth caused by infections, in conditions such as inflamed gums, dental problems, mouth sores, tooth decay, etc., by gargling with an infusion.
It can also be used for its healing effect on certain skin wounds or burns, preventing the development of infections.
It helps to fade wrinkles and expression lines, reduces blemishes and the visible appearance of pores, making it a valuable ally in beauty care.
Another of its benefits is the removal of warts and corns. Placing a piece of willow bark over the affected area and covering it with a dressing is recommended (it is advisable to change it daily).

  • PRECAUTIONS

Its use is not recommended in pregnant women or children.
