Description
There is a wide variety of Artemisia species around the world, around 400 in total. It belongs to the Asteraceae family.Common mugwort grows naturally in temperate parts of Europe, Asia, North Africa, Alaska and North America.
Some regard it as an invasive weed.
The plant can reach up to 2 metres in height and is highly aromatic. It flowers throughout the summer.
Regarded as a magical plant, it is associated with the goddess Artemisia. The traditional and magical uses described are very varied. The well-known moxa used in acupuncture is made from this plant.
Some of the magical powers attributed to it are clairvoyance, protection against evil spirits and the ability to purify.
This plant is often associated with women and the moon.
Cosmetic applications:
1.Useful in products for oily or acne-prone skin, as it fights bacteria and regulates sebum production. Effective in purifying facial toners or detoxifying masks.
2. Reduces redness and irritation in sensitive skin or skin prone to conditions such as rosacea.
3. Promotes cell regeneration, helping to repair scars, stretch marks or minor wounds.
4. Thanks to its antimicrobial action, it inhibits odour-causing bacteria, making it suitable for natural deodorants.
5. In hair care products, it stimulates the scalp, strengthening hair and helping to prevent hair loss.
6. In facial cosmetics, it tones the skin and improves the appearance of a dull complexion.
7. Useful in foot or nail care products, combating fungal infections.
Precautions:
It should always be mixed with a carrier oil before being applied to the skin.
Its use is not recommended during these stages or in young children.
