Description
Potassium Oleate is a liquid anionic surfactant of plant origin, obtained by saponifying oleic acid from natural oils. It is a viscous yellowish-to-amber liquid with an alkaline pH between 10 and 11 and an approximate density of 1,02 g/cm³. Its composition makes it an excellent liquid soap base, completely water-soluble and highly biodegradable.
This ingredient is specifically developed for natural cosmetic formulations and mild detergents. Several versions are available on the market, but ours has COSMOS approval and is produced according to RSPO MB (Mass Balance) sustainability criteria, ensuring responsible use of plant-based raw materials.
Potassium Oleate acts as a natural cleansing agent and emulsifier, providing creamy foam and good degreasing performance without being harsh on the skin. In cosmetic formulations, it can be used as either the main surfactant or a co-surfactant, adding mildness and improving skin tolerance compared with other anionics.
Its slightly alkaline pH makes it particularly suitable for hygiene products requiring a traditional soap base.
Recommendations for Use:
Recommended for liquid soaps, shampoos, face and body cleansers, ecological detergents and mild multipurpose cleaners. Its natural character, excellent compatibility with other surfactants and complete biodegradability make it an ideal alternative for skin- and environmentally friendly formulations.
Advantages of Potassium Oleate
Like the Potassium Cocoate also available from Mi Cosmética Casera, Oleate has almost identical characteristics, although importantly it contains less active matter. Differences may be noticeable in the final texture or transparency.
- Natural and biodegradable: Ideal for natural cosmetics and ecological products.
- Mild on skin: Suitable for formulations intended for sensitive skin.
- Multipurpose: Versatile for personal and household cleaning products.
- Foaming effect: Provides rich, creamy foam.
Active Matter: 18% - 22%
Typical Dosage:
- Personal care products: 10% to 25%.
- Household cleaning products: 20% to 40%.
The amount can be adjusted according to the desired mildness or cleaning power. In cosmetic formulations, it is commonly combined with other mild surfactants or refatting agents to balance pH and improve skin tolerance.
Recommended uses: natural liquid soaps, hand washes, shampoos and ecological household cleaning products.
