Description
An anionic surfactant that is very well tolerated by the skin, even the most sensitive. It can be combined with other surfactants to reduce any irritation they may cause, increase skin hydration or improve combability in shampoos.
It has many applications, including facial cleansers, micellar cleansers, toothpastes, shower gels, shampoos, shaving creams and cleansing products for reactive skin.
Active matter and composition
Supplied as an aqueous solution with 27.0 - 32.5 % active matter (32.6 - 38.0 % dry matter). As solvent it contains plant-derived propanediol, obtained by fermenting corn sugar, instead of propylene glycol, and it is an Ecocert-certified grade.
INCI and pH
As supplied, at pH 9.5 - 10.5, the glutamate is in its disodium form and the manufacturer declares it as Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate. When the final formula is below pH 7.5, as is usual in cosmetics, the correct INCI is Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, which is how we list it.
Solubility: Water-soluble; clear or slightly cloudy liquid for the water phase or surfactant phase.
